Nigel's research focuses on synthesising evidence to inform biodiversity conservation, with the ultimate aim of making conservation more effective and efficient. He has a particular interest in aquatic systems: he has published global synopses of evidence for the effects of conservation actions in peatlands, marshes and swamps (as part of the Conservation Evidence project) and maintains an interest in quantifying ecological and economic impacts of aquatic invasive species.
Nigel is currently a postdoc in the NERC-funded Centre for Landscape Regeneration, developing tools to balance nature conservation and human development objectives in three focal UK landscapes. He is also part of the Conservation Science Group within the Department of Zoology.
